Rani Kamalapati Railway Station

Rani Kamalapati station’s redevelopment project under PPP mode has set up benchmark and learning model for other railway stations. Reconstructed on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg railway station Rani Kamalapati railway station is India’s first world-class station.

The station has been designed and built with the ultra-modern amenities like large covered parking area, 24X7 power backup, drinking water, air-conditioned lobby, offices, shops, high speed escalator, lift, anchor stores, automobile showrooms, convention centre, hotels, super specialty hospital, etc. to provide passengers the airport-like feel & comfort at the same time.

The redeveloped railway station has received GEM 5 star rating in GEM Sustainability Certification by ASSOCHAM for Green, sustainable design and eco-friendly project. The GEM Sustainability Certification aims to promote eco-friendly green building design and development. Rani Kamalapati Railway station is the first ever Green Station that has planned an extensive reuse of water with Zero discharge technology that has been put into place for sewage systems. Approximately 6800 sqm is identified for soft land scaping and 7300 sqm for hard land scaping. Also, to ensure cleaner energy from renewable and non-conventional energy, provisions for solar energy generation is provided in station. There is also an adequate provision of rainwater harvesting at identified locations.
